Arncliffe lies mid-way up the valley of Littondale on the banks of the River Skirfare.
With its pretty village green Arncliffe is still fondly remembered as being the original fictional setting for the earliest episodes of TV's Emmerdale Farm (which is now known simply as Emmerdale).
