Calendar Girls - the naked ladies of the Rylstone Women's Institute

In the late 1990s eleven women from Rylstone and Cracoe became internationally known for having stripped off to produce a nude version of the local Women's Institute charity calendar.

The calendar went on to raise large amounts of money for Leukemia Research, and their exploits have now been made into a film called "Calendar Girls", which was previewed at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 and has premiered recently in the UK. This movie, which stars Helen Mirren and Julie Walters, was shot on location in Skipton and Kettlewell during the summer of 2002 (the latter village doubling for the original setting of Rylstone in the film).
