International Cycling Competition in the Yorkshire Dales

Starting out from the city of Leeds Stage One of the 2014 Grand Depart of the Tour de France came through the Yorkshire Dales region taking in Lower Wharfedale, Upper Wharfedale, Bishopdale, Upper Wensleydale, Swaledale and Lower Wensleydale before ending the day in Harrogate.

In 2015 international cycling competition came back to the Yorkshire Dales area for the Tour de Yorkshire with the final stretch of the day three route including a run along Lower Wharfedale en route to the finishing line at Roundhay Park on the outskirts of Leeds.

In 2016 the Tour de Yorkshire returned to the Yorkshire Dales area with a run on the first day of the race through Pateley Bridge and Grassington to Settle.
