Pateley Bridge is an old lead mining village in Nidderdale. Nearby attractions include How Stean Gorge at Lofthouse, Stump Cross Caverns (near Greenhow Hill on the moors between Nidderdale and Wharfedale) and Brimham Rocks (a series of fantastically shaped weathered rocks near Summerbridge).
