With its rocky summit Simon's Seat overlooks Skyredale and dominates the skyline above the picturesque village of Appletreewick just off the side of lower Wharfedale. Several paths lead to the summit, but probably the most popular route starts at Bolton Abbey, taking in the waterfalls of Posforth Gill and the so called "Valley of Desolation" before ascending across open moorland.
