Drought conditions hit the Yorkshire Dales again

Thruscross reservoir in drought conditions

Following the driest spring in recent history and an exceptionally hot summer with several heatwaves and little rain a state of drought in Yorkshire has again been declared.

This comes only three years after the drought of 2022, this time the situation having been officially recognised as early as June.

Levels in reservoirs such as Thruscross (pictured above during the drought of 2022) are currently very low, and the public and businesses are once again being urged to limit their use of supplies with a hosepipe ban and other restrictions being put in place.
