Harewood House is a magnificent stately home and estate north of Leeds and south of Harrogate just off the A61 at the very end of Wharfedale. Although not in the "classicial" Yorkshire Dales area itself, the estate has a special connection with the dales in hosting a purpose built set for the filming of the popular T.V. soap "Emmerdale" (though please note that this part of the estate is not actually open to the public).
Harewood House itself is famous for its collection of antique furniture which was made by Thomas Chippendale (who was born in nearby Otley), and for its celebrated bird garden.
The house and gardens are open to the public. For more information, please visit the official Harewood House website at http://www.harewood.org
