Adventure pursuits include mountain biking, fell running, rock climbing, caving and potholing, motor sports (including the famous Harewood Hill Climb at Harewood at the edge of the dales), off-roading, outdoor swimming, horse riding and even hot air ballooning (!)

With beautiful and photogenic scenery (as shown in the separate views section), the Yorkshire Dales area is naturally also popular with artists and photographers, and has served as inspiration for world famous poets, writers, film-makers and artists (including William Wordsworth and J.M.W. Turner).
